INTRODUCTION

A man likes to believe that he is the master of his soul. But as long as he is unable to control his moods and emotions, or to be conscious of the myriad secret ways in which unconscious factors insinuate themselves into his arrangements and decisions, he is certainly not his own master.” Carl Jung. Man, and His Symbols (ed. Dell, 2012)

Developing a common-sense, practical, down-to- earth North Node after wallowing in the emotional excesses of a watery, emotional South Node (in one’s childhood, via the prejudices of one’s ancestors or for centuries via one’s past lives), is just plain hard work.  And a Scorpio South Node, with its archetypal dark places deep inside its psyche is, as Alice Bailey states, in her book Esoteric Astrology, is where the battle between the personality (ego) and the soul begins. The soul as energy, cannot be destroyed. The soul can only be transformed.  But as Patricia Walsh in her book Understanding Karmic Complexes; Evolutionary Astrology and Regression Therapy (page 157) maintains that to the obsessive, fixed nature of a Scorpio person, the smallest threats of change can feel like annihilation.

Thus, in this article I aim to reveal what a Uranus transit could do to a person with a Taurus North Node.

THE INFLUENCE OF CHILDHOOD, ANCESTORS AND PAST LIFE TRAUMAS ON A NORTH NODE TAURUS (OR 2ND HOUSE NORTH NODE) PERSON

Warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child. Carl Jung in The Development of Personality (1954)

My ancestors’ souls are sustained by the atmosphere of the house, since I answer for them the questions that their lives once left behind. I carve out rough answers as best I can. I have even drawn them on the walls. It is as if a silent, greater family, stretching down the centuries, were peopling the house.”  Carl Jung. Memories, dreams, reflections (ed. Random House Inc, 1973)

Carl Jung’s ancestors (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great grandparents, great-great-great grandparents and so on) had lived in his house and his house was saturated with their vibrations. You too, if you have a Cancerian, Scorpionic or Piscean South Node, may well be water-logged with the influences; beliefs, behaviours, prejudices and habits of your ancestors as many people unthinkingly do not emotionally or psychologically unclutter themselves from their parents or grandparents influence and nor did your parents, grandparents and generations and generations back for often centuries. This is especially so with some geographically isolated families and in some Asian and European countries and with Indigenous people, as filial piety is the norm and ancestors are venerated.  The ancestors’ influence is only one level of vibratory influence down from the planets and I believe, from my experiences of healing ancestral and planetary focused past life traumas, the two are just as important as each other.   Consequently, both ancestral and past life, as well as childhood traumas or crises seem to influence the South Node energies.

A MATURE TAURUS OR 2ND HOUSE NORTH NODE IN ACTION

The most positive article about the Taurus North Node is “North Node in Taurus: The Elegant Soul.” The writer, Denise, an experienced astrologer, opens with the statement that, “These people are choosing to find what’s sacred everywhere, so they’re able to feed their own soul and awaken the Divine in everything [because] they are real mystics who know where God is investing [energy] and who recognize the Divine presence in both common and extraordinary situations.

Denise adds, “Their current lifetime should be about mysticism and they should belong to a giving Universe, which can be very difficult, but those people with North Node in Taurus have the” deepest spiritual calling and can identify the soul of things” consequently they can build impeccable associations with people, Nature and divine beings.

The north node defines your life purpose and your soul’s mission in this lifetime. I will enumerate the Taurus North Node strong points first. These areas need developing:

  • Mastering your emotions, especially anger and teaching people (professionally or privately) how to discipline their emotions
  • Loyalty to yourself and your own value and values
  • Perseverance
  • Rely on yourself and set your own rules
  • Don’t follow others’ values
  • Create stability and harmony in your own life and in the lives of other people (as well as in Nature)
  • Boundaries
  • Trust in yourself
  • Work towards creating a safe and stable environment as an adult, that you may have lacked as a child because of neglect, being bullied, abused or lack of appreciation
  • Rushing; move surely and steadily
  • Take everything one step at a time and be patient
  • Developing confidence and self-worth
  • Be gracious and developing gratitude for all that you are given
  • Learning to be a provider, an earner and a do-er
  • Fight to be self-sufficient
  • Use your money, your connections and your influence to help open doors for people who don’t have wealth, connections or the abilities you have
  • Embrace simplicity,
  • Work with and love Nature
  • Be truthful,
  • Ground yourself with daily habits and routines
  • Living in the now
  • Be pure in your connections to people
  • Focus on the tangible, mundane world, as well as fostering relationships with God, the archangels and divine beings of great power such as Jesus the Christ
  • Be honest in talking to others and telling others what you see and feel
  • Make your own living; don’t be a human user or a leech

While this may seem cruel to say “Don’t be a user or a leech” I know a number of people from the 1947-1949 North Node in Taurus generation and the 1966-1967 North Node in Taurus generation who are parasites. They have inherited or have been given their wealth by a wife, husband or parent and they have not worked. They still complain about not having enough.

When we meet undeveloped North Node in Taurus people, we will meet their South Node in Scorpio inclinations and weaknesses. Please understand that the more evolved north Node in Taurus people will not have a lot of these characteristics, but this is a very difficult nodal axis.

Jan Spiller in her excellent book Astrology of the Soul (pages 64- 108) notices many South Node Scorpio propensities such as:

  • Obsessive-compulsive tendencies
  • Crisis and emergency consciousness that will surely burn out your adrenal glands if you stay in this state
  • Inappropriate intensity
  • Overconcern with other people’s lives
  • Impatience
  • Judgementalism
  • Inescapable bonded relationships with others where they have no boundaries
  • Psychic oversensitivity
  • Abuse of power or being abused
  • Spectrums of goodness to evil
  • Overreacting
  • Self-sabotaging
  • Jealousy
  • Envy
  • Lack of forgiveness
  • Dependence on soul mate energy for nurturing
  • A lack of acknowledgement of their own neediness
  • Dependency
  • Withholding appreciation/love/sex, you name it, to hurt others
  • A preoccupation with intense emotion destroys the rest of their life
  • Defensive behaviour that may extend to revenge
  • Self -destructive behaviour based on fear and anger
  • Needing occupations where they are constantly validated
  • Having no boundaries and being swamped by the opinions, ideas and beliefs of others
  • A preoccupation with other’s psychological behaviour
  • A pre-occupation with power over others in positions such as a lawyer, teacher, manager

The wrong we have done, thought, or intended will wreak its vengeance on our souls. Carl Jung. Psychology and religion: West and East (ed. 1958)

Astrostyle.com/taurus-north-node-Scorpio-north-node/ add these negative South Node traits, to eliminate as well:

  • Seduction
  • Manipulation
  • sex as a weapon,
  • being overly secretive or superstitious,
  • relying on other people’s money and resources

NOW LET US EXAMINE A URANIAN TRANSIT TO YOUR TAURUS NORTH NODE

Every psychic advance of man arises from the suffering of the soul. Carl Jung. Psychology and religion: West and East (ed. 1958)

Natal Uranian energy can attract chaos through people or situations. It may make you feel eccentric or independent or you may attract eccentric people

The transits of Uranus are not small threats of change.  Uranus transits are unexpected, chaotic changes. They seem like speedy, thundering, electric, spontaneous, unemotional   changes, like a battalion of riderless wild horses.

With Uranus transits conjuncting, sextiling, trining, squaring opposing or quincunxing your South Node Bernadette Brady in her book Predictive Astrology states on page 10, states that the old tribal structure of your family will change irrevocably and old problems may surface again so you can declutter previously unpalatable situations.   Bernadette also states that with Uranian aspects to your North Node you might have sudden meetings with various people   who expand your world. These exciting, unconventional people or Divine beings may bring changes to redirect your path, so that your soul surfaces to bring a new, awakened freedom and unexpected changes. And this may be a Saint Paul on the road to Damascus awakening. This happened to me and I could not have predicted any of it.

At the time Uranus may be felt as total chaos or weirdness and you may feel as though you have been ripped off your feet, but Uranus energy is detached and unemotional and, quite frankly, you don’t have any time to ruminate or agonise about any of it. This Uranus energy can be likened to a ship in a storm at sea. Fear doesn’t help and nor analysis help. But it does help to stay calm. And my advice after being hit by this chaos in 1994-95 is step back and think very carefully before you do anything impulsive.

If in doubt, don’t!

Uranus transits are like a boulder being thrown into a lake. The ripples also keep the momentum and vibration of the changes happening.

And I emphasise this, so take note:

THERE IS NO GOING BACK!

NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!

If you are on your correct soul path you cannot say, “Stop the ride. I want to get off.”

I have tried that and the repercussions were very bad, so I waved the white flag, and now I am back on my soul path.

EXAMPLES OF URANUS TRANSITS TO TAURUS AND 2ND HOUSE NORTH NODE PEOPLE

PRINCE CHARLES.

At the moment transiting Uranus in Taurus is at 5-6 degrees. Prince Charles’s North Node in Taurus is at 5 degrees and his North Node is squaring his 5-degree Leo ascendant. In Evolutionary Astrology (Jeff Wolf Green’s type of astrology) a square to one’s nodal axis is what is called “a skipped step.”  This indicates a past life where a similar situation was not dealt with and in Charles’ situation, he must repair the damage in this life time.   I think he’d make an excellent king because he is a dedicated environmentalist and it is people like him and his son William who can save our planet.

Prince Charles of Britain is receiving a Netflix-driven highly emotional and abusive response to the television show The Crown.  The writers, directors and producers of The Crown have admitted that it is fiction, but many of the general public believe this series is factual.  Consequently, Charles and his wife are being verbally assaulted via social media. Technological areas are Uranian in nature and so is weird behaviour. Prince Charles and his wife’s situation was originally due to the outmoded royal dictum that a future King of Britain must marry a virgin and then he was forced to marry by his father Prince Phillip.

CHARLES’S GRANDMOTHER, PRINCESS ALICE (mother of Prince Philip)

In the photo Princess Alice was 82 years old and fighting fit.

Princess Alice was born in 1885 with her North Node in Libra at 4 degrees 55 minutes in her 2nd house, conjunct her Uranus at 1 degree of Libra. When Alice died transiting Uranus was at 8 degrees of libra and had just conjuncted her North Node and natal Uranus.

I feel that Charles’ grandma Alice is one of his spiritual guides on the other side as she seems to share his soul vibration.

Alice was a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and as a result of the union of Queen Victoria and her first cousin Albert she was congenitally deaf.  Her mother Victoria taught Alice to lip read and she taught her several European languages. After marrying Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark in 1903, she lived in Greece until the exile of most of the Greek royal family in 1917. On returning to Greece a few years later, her husband was blamed in part for the country’s defeat in the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), and the family was once again forced into exile until the restoration of the Greek monarchy in 1935. In 1930, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia because she unfortunately revealed she has heard Jesus speaking to her.  She was committed to a sanatorium in Switzerland; thereafter, she lived separately from her husband. After her recovery, she devoted most of her remaining years to charity work in Greece. She stayed in Athens during the Second World War, sheltering Jewish refugees, for which she is recognised as “Righteous Among the Nations” by Israel’s Holocaust memorial institution, Yad Vashem. After the war, she stayed in Greece and founded a Greek Orthodox nursing order of nuns known as the Christian Sisterhood of Martha and Mary. After the fall of King Constantine II of Greece and the imposition of military rule in Greece in 1967, she was invited by her son and daughter-in-law to live at Buckingham Palace in London, where she died two years later.

With the advent of the Balkan Wars, her husband was reinstated in the army, and Alice acted as a nurse, assisting at operations and setting up field hospitals, work for which King George V awarded her the Royal Red Cross in 1913. After 1920 she and her family settled in a small house on the outskirts of Paris, where Princess Andrew helped in a charity shop for Greek refugees. She became deeply religious and, in October 1928, converted to the Greek Orthodox Church.  During World War II, Alice and her sister-in-law, Princess Nicholas of Greece, lived in Athens for the duration of the war, and there she worked for the Red Cross, helping to organise soup kitchens for the starving populace. She flew to Sweden to bring back medical supplies on the pretext of visiting her sister, Louise, who was married to the Crown Prince of Sweden. Alice organised two shelters for orphaned and lost children, and a nursing circuit for poor neighbourhoods. The occupying forces apparently presumed Alice was pro-German, but when visited by a German general who asked her, “Is there anything I can do for you?”, she replied, “You can take your troops out of my country.”

After the fall of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini in September 1943, the German Army occupied Athens, where a minority of Greek Jews had sought refuge. During this period, Princess Andrew hid Jewish widow Rachel Cohen and two of her five children, who sought to evade the Gestapo and deportation to the death camps.

When Athens was liberated in October 1944, the British parliamentarian Harold Macmillan visited Alice and described her as “living in humble, not to say somewhat squalid conditions.” In a letter to her son, she admitted that in the last week before liberation she had had no food except bread and butter, and no meat for several months. By early December the situation in Athens was far from improved; Communist guerrillas were fighting the British for control of the capital. As the fighting continued, Alice was informed that her husband had died, just as hopes of a post-war reunion of the couple were rising, but rather than creating a fuss during the fighting, to the dismay of the British, she insisted on walking the streets distributing rations to policemen and children in contravention of the curfew order. When told that she might have been struck by a stray bullet, she replied, “They tell me that you don’t hear the shot that kills you and in any case I am deaf. So, why worry about that?

In June 2020 it was revealed that Prince Philip’s mother Princess Alice attempted to rescue the last Emperor of Russia’s daughters before they were murdered during the 1917 Russian revolution. She was related to them via her Hessian father.  The girl’s mother was her first cousin.

I won’t continue except to say Princess Alice was the highest vibration of what a true North Node in the 2nd house or Taurus person does and is. Princess Alice of Battenberg grandma of Princess Charles was a saint on earth.

BUT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN TRANSITTING URANUS OPPOSED PRINCESS ALICE’S NORTH NODE?

In 1928 she became deeply religious and, in October 1928, converted to the Greek Orthodox Church. That winter, she translated into English her husband’s defence of his actions during the Greco-Turkish War. Soon afterward, she began claiming that she was receiving divine messages and that she had healing powers. In 1930, after suffering a severe nervous breakdown, Princess Andrew was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and she was locked up for 2 years.

No one helped her! Her son Philip was sent to England, her husband disappeared and her daughters married and drifted away.

After she was released, she began an itinerant, incognito existence in Central Europe. She maintained contact with her mother, but broke off ties to the rest of her family until the end of 1936. In 1937, her daughter Cecilie, son-in-law, and two of her grandchildren were killed in an air accident at Ostend; she and Prince Andrew met for the first time in six years at the funeral.  Her son Philip and brother Louis also attended. Alice resumed contact with her family, but in 1938 returned to Athens alone to work with the poor, while living in a two-bedroom flat near the Benaki Museum.

We can see that her life changed irretrievably when transiting Uranus opposed her North Node in her second house.  From being a wealthy Princess with a normal happy family  she lost her freedom, her family, her home and life was changed beyond belief. Uranus is ruthless and sometimes we may think our soul is too.

GEORGE R.R. MARTIN

George R.R. Martin,  the writer of The Game of Thrones (1966) and The Clash of Kings (1968) has his North Node in Taurus at 5 degrees 16 minutes.

His North Node is in his twelfth house so he enjoys fantasy. Apparently, his limited world, as he grew up, made him want to travel and experience other places, but the only way of doing so was through his imagination, and he became a voracious reader. This is a very 12th twelfth house description of his North Node. His epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, was inspired by the Wars of the Roses (the 300 years of war between the various Plantagenet kings), The Accursed Kings and Ivanhoe.

The Accursed Kings is a series of historical novels by French author Maurice Druon about the French monarchy in the 14th century. Published between 1955 and 1977, the series has been adapted as a mini series twice for television in France. American author George R. R. Martin called The Accursed Kings “the original Game of Thrones”, citing Druon’s novels as an inspiration for his own series A Song of Ice and Fire. The Accursed Kings is set in the 14th century during the reigns of the last five kings of the direct Capetian dynasty and the first two kings of the House of Valois. The books begin with the French King Philip the Fair, besieged by rumourmongering  and conspiracies. King Phillip brings a curse upon his family because he persecutes the Knights Templar. All the kings  who follow Phillip  lead France and England to the Hundred Years’ War.

Here we could be excused for thinking George RR Martin is more of a 12th house North Node person than a Taurus North Node one, but when you go back to look at the Scorpio South Node you’ll find that he places his Scorpio South Node  love of drama, intrigue, power games into his books, rather than in “real life.” He loves to kill and maim his characters. But if you go through the list of Taurus North Node characteristics he has these too:

•           Loyalty to yourself and your own value and values

•           Perseverance

•           Rely on yourself and set your own rules

•           Create stability and harmony in your own life

•           Set boundaries

•           Trust in yourself

•           Move surely and steadily

•           Take everything one step at a time and be patient

•           Developing confidence and self-worth

•           Be gracious and developing gratitude for all that you are given

•           Learning to be a provider, an earner and a do-er

•           Fight to be self-sufficient

•           Use your money, your connections and your influence to help open doors for people who don’t have wealth, connections or the abilities you have

•           Ground yourself with daily habits and routines

•           Be pure in your connections to people48.

•           Make your own living; don’t be a human user or a leech

He’s done all of this to build his career  and he really did not achieve wealth or acclaim until he was aged 48  and then ,“Surprise, surprise!”

IT WAS AT AGE 48 TO AGE 50 TRANSITING URANUS SQUARED  HIS NORTH NODE IN TAURUS .

Hurray! This was when George published his first novel, “The Game of Thrones” on the first of August, 1996. Uranus was 2 degrees of Aquarius which squared his North Node in Taurus.  In 1998, on November 16 George published “The Clash of Kings.”  Uranus was 9 degrees of Aquarius then.

Rather than complete turmoil transiting Uranus bought acclaim.  George had lived with Uranus all his life though.  Natal Uranus at 00 degrees Cancer squared his grounded 28 degree Virgo Sun and natal Uranus sextiled his North Node Taurus at 5 degrees.

I love George’s books. I do like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

Congratulations George on your success. You deserve it.

BONNIE PARKER  (PUBLIC ENEMY NO. 1 1931-1934)

 b. 1st Oct, 1910 Rowena, Texas, USA.

Bonnie Parker  (d. 23 May, 1934) and Clyde  Barrow (March 24, 1909 – May 23, 1934) were an American criminal couple who travelled the Central United States with their gang during the Great Depression. They were famous for their bank robberies, but they preferred robbing small stores or rural gas stations. Their exploits captured the attention of the American press and its readership during the “public enemy era” between 1931 and 1934. They are believed to have murdered at least nine police officers and four civilians.

Bonnie had her North Node in taurus at 20 Taurus and it was part of an earth grand trine . Her North Node trined Uranus 21 Capricorn and it trined a stellium in Virgo which consisted of Mercury 27, Venus 23, Moon 19, Poseidon 21 and Juno 18. The stellium suggests her notoriety (Poseidon), emotional attachment (Juno-Moon) and love and mentally- based friendship with Clyde (Venus conjunct Mercury).   Her North Node sextiles her Piscean Uranian planet Hades which suggests a deteriorating and illusory situation which would lead to her death.

The press’s portrayal of Bonnie was sometimes at odds with the reality of their life on the road. She was there at 100 or more felonies during the two years that she was Barrow’s companion, but she was not the cigar-smoking, machine gun-wielding killer depicted in newspapers, newsreels, and pulp detective magazines of the day. Nonetheless, numerous police accounts detail her attempts to murder police officers. Parker never smoked cigars.  The 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in the title roles, revived interest in the criminals and glamorized them with a romantic aura. The 2019 Netflix film The Highwaymen televised the pursuit of Bonnie and Clyde.

On January 16, 1934, Barrow coordinated the escape of Hamilton, Methvin, and several others in the “Eastham Breakout”. The audacious raid generated negative publicity for Texas, and Barrow seemed to have achieved his revenge on the Texas Department of Corrections. Barrow Gang member Joe Palmer shot Major Joe Crowson during his escape, and Crowson died a few days later in the hospital. This attack attracted the full power of the Texas and federal government to the manhunt for Clyde Barrow and Bonnie. As Crowson struggled for life, prison chief Lee Simmons reportedly promised him that all persons involved in the breakout would be hunted down and killed. All of them eventually were, except for Methvin, who preserved his life by setting up the ambush of Bonnie and Clyde.

It was this prison breakout at the prison farm near Lovelady, Houston Texas, that was where transiting Uranus at 23 degrees in Aries actually squared Bonnies natal Uranus in Capricorn at 21 degrees (and her North Node trined her natal Uranus.) Transiting Pluto at 23 degrees Cancer opposed Bonnie’s natal Uranus on that day.     It is interesting that on that day transiting Hygeia was conjunct her natal  Uranus as well. she must have gained a huge thrill from the break out.

From then on Bonnie’s goose was cooked.

The Texas Department of Corrections contacted former Texas Ranger Captain Frank Hamer and persuaded him to hunt down the Barrow Gang. He accepted the assignment as a Texas  prison system as a special investigator, and given the specific task of taking down the Barrow Gang. Former Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, the Barrow Gang’s relentless shadow after the notorious Eastham prison breakout. Hamer was tall, burly, and taciturn, unimpressed by authority and driven by an “inflexible adherence to right, or what he thinks is right.” For twenty years, he had been feared and admired throughout Texas as “the walking embodiment of the ‘One Riot, One Ranger’ ethos”. He “had acquired a formidable reputation as a result of several flamboyant captures and the shooting of a number of Texas criminals”. He was officially credited with 53 kills, and suffered seventeen wounds. Prison boss Simmons had approached two other Rangers, both of whom declined because they were reluctant to shoot a woman. Starting on February 10, 1934, Hamer became the constant shadow of Barrow and Parker, living out of his car, just a town or two behind them. Barrow and Parker were killed  at 9.15 am, on May 23, 1934, on a rural road near Gibsland  in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.

It wasn’t transiting Uranus that effected them on May 23rd. Transiting Pluto was 22 degrees Cancer in the 12th house, transiting Mars in Taurus was conjuncting Bonnie’s North Node and it sat on the 01th/11th house cusp and strangely the transiting Moon at 24 Virgo sat on Bonnie’s stellium which was part of her grand trine which included her Taurus North Node. Tanrus at the time was 29 degrees Aries. Saturn was 27 degrees Aquarius widely squaring her North Node.

CONCLUSION

Here are some other people with a Taurus North Node:

Mother Teresa (22 degrees 47 minutes Taurus)

Jacqui Kennedy (17 degrees 46 minutes Taurus conjunct her descendant in the 7th house)

Al Gore (14 degrees Taurus square Pluto and Saturn in Leo in his 1st house)

Martin Luther King (28 degrees Taurus square Neptune in his 5th house)

Eckhart Tolle (17 degrees Taurus square Saturn)

Audrey Hepburn (21 degrees Taurus conjunct Jupiter)

Oscar Wilde

I do hope that you have enjoyed this article and it has helped you understand the archetype of the North Node in Taurus or the 2nd house and a couple of examples of what happens to this archetype when  transiting  Uranus influences it.

Happy Christmas everyone and I do hope that the year 2021 brings a lessening of Covid-19 and a much happier year for us all.

With much love and the light of goodness to you all,

Hilary
