Although I primarily am discussing the role of Aura Soma colour healing as a therapy for grief and shock in this article, I suggest that a good therapist is eclectic or has a modality of therapies in which to work with a client. Neptunian therapists may work with energy healing or shamanic healing and Neptunian therapists with some earth placements in their charts may work with crystals. Plutonian/ Scorpionic and 8th house therapists may do psychopomp work (helping people who have died and are stuck in the lower astral to pass on to “heaven”) or work with oncology (cancer) and people who are dying. Those who have predominantly air/Uranian charts work with psychotherapy and counselling. Sand play and art therapist work with Venusian and earth energies. Trauma counsellors work with Uranian-Mercurial energies. Masseurs work with lunar and earth and fire energy. Neptunian counsellors and therapist work with addictions. The list goes on.

In the last few days I have been working with and speaking to a client who was in deep shock. The transiting planet Uranus had systematically conjuncted or sat on her Ascendant (her soul path), then opposed her natal Pluto (deep unconscious processes), then opposed her Moon (her safety and sense of security and belonging) and now was opposing her Uranus. In other words she was facing a prolonged mid-life crisis of extreme grief and resultant shock. At the same time transiting Pluto, the remorseless transformer of our life and bringing of death in its many forms (spiritual, physical, mental, in career, partnerships etc.) had squared this persons Ascendant, and then squared her Pluto, Moon and now her Uranus.

Those of us who are not only experiences counsellors, but also have been through extreme trauma ourselves, know that the shock generally renders us reeling, useless, helpless and totally overwhelmed. No, we are not all the same. For some the grief and shock is supressed and those people behave in a totally numb fashion. For many the unfairness or injustice of certain traumas also add fury, anger and endless analysis to grief and shock. Whether the shock and grief was or is a physical threat or threats to our life (such as stalking or constant threats or bullying in your workplace); a death or deaths of our closest loved ones; a siege; accidents or being in constant frightening circumstances, if we are a therapist we understand the overwhelming bodily symptoms and extreme emotions we go through. But when a person is in the middle of grief and trauma and has no understanding or background knowledge of the symptoms and relief for shock what happens? What can they do?

Let’s have a look so you have a bit more knowledge of how to cope if you go through trauma or a loved one does.

Emotional and psychological trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, making you feel helpless and vulnerable in a dangerous world. Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, but any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it doesn’t involve physical harm. It’s not the objective facts that determine whether an event is traumatic, but your subjective emotional experience of the event. The more frightened and helpless you feel, the more likely you are to be traumatized.

An event will most likely lead to spiritual, emotional or psychological trauma if:
• It happened unexpectedly.
• You were unprepared for it.
• You felt powerless to prevent it.
• It happened repeatedly.
• Someone was intentionally cruel
• Someone deliberately used ritualised ill intent.
• It happened in childhood.
Emotional and psychological trauma can be caused by single-blow, one-time events, such as a horrible accident, death of a loved one, a natural disaster, or a violent attack. Trauma can also stem from ongoing, relentless stress, such as living in a crime-ridden neighbourhood, living with very, very abusive neighbours, a severely critical partner or special needs children or struggling with cancer.

Commonly overlooked causes of emotional and psychological trauma are :
• Falls or sports injuries
• Surgery (especially in the first 3 years of life)
• The sudden death of someone close
• A car accident
• The breakup of a significant relationship
• A humiliating or deeply disappointing experience
• The discovery of a life-threatening illness or disabling condition
• Fear from a psychic threat

Childhood trauma increases the risk of future trauma.
Experiencing trauma in childhood can have a severe and long-lasting effect. Children who have been traumatized see the world as a frightening and dangerous place. When childhood trauma is not resolved, this fundamental sense of fear and helplessness carries over into adulthood, setting the stage for further trauma. However, if one has had significant counselling and shamanic soul recoveries this will significantly lesson childhood trauma and increase positive (brain) neuroplasticity where we become more resilient.

Childhood trauma results from anything that disrupts a child’s sense of safety and security, including:
• An unstable or unsafe environment
• Separation from a parent
• Serious illness
• Intrusive medical procedures
• Sexual, physical, or verbal abuse
• Domestic violence
• Neglect
• Bullying

Symptoms of emotional and psychological trauma
Following a traumatic event, or repeated trauma, people react in different ways, experiencing a wide range of physical and emotional reactions. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to think, feel, or respond to trauma, so don’t judge your own reactions or those of other people. Your responses are NORMAL reactions to ABNORMAL events.

Emotional and psychological symptoms of trauma:
• Shock, denial, or disbelief
• Anger, irritability, mood swings
• Guilt, shame, self-blame
• Feeling sad or hopeless
• Confusion, difficulty concentrating
• Anxiety and fear
• Withdrawing from others
• Feeling disconnected or numb

Physical symptoms of trauma:
• Insomnia or nightmares
• Being startled easily
• Racing heartbeat (a potassium deficiency)
• Aches and pains
• Fatigue
• Difficulty concentrating
• Edginess and agitation
• Muscle tension (potassium and magnesium deficiency)

These symptoms and feelings typically last from a few days to a few months, gradually fading as you process the trauma. But even when you’re feeling better, you may be troubled from time to time by painful memories or emotions;especially in response to triggers such as an anniversary of the event or an image, sound, or situation that reminds you of the traumatic experience.

Grieving is normal following trauma
Whether or not a traumatic event involves death, survivors must cope with the loss, at least temporarily, of their sense of safety and security. The natural reaction to this loss is grief. Like people who have lost a loved one, trauma survivors go through a grieving process. This process, while inherently painful, is easier if you turn to others for support, take care of yourself, and talk about how you feel.

When to seek professional help for emotional or psychological trauma
Recovering from a traumatic event takes time, and everyone heals at his or her own pace. But if months have passed and your symptoms aren’t letting up, you may need professional help from a trauma expert.
Seek help for emotional or psychological trauma if you’re:
• Having trouble functioning at home or work
• Suffering from severe fear, anxiety, or depression
• Unable to form close, satisfying relationships
• Experiencing terrifying memories, nightmares, or flashbacks
• Avoiding more and more things that remind you of the trauma
• Emotionally numb and disconnected from others
• Using alcohol or drugs to feel better

Of course as a counsellor I would suggest taking one day at a time, but after a few months of the initial incident the person should be encouraged to set long term and short term goals to resume one’s balance and harmony. In the early stages one would need daily or at least weekly massage, a good friend or family member with them daily, lots of reassurance and someone to listen to, a daily Epsom salts bath and a weekly visit to a good grief counsellor. It is important to be sociable and go out regularly because agoraphobia is a possibility in cases of trauma. I would also suggest an initial visit to a naturopath –homeopath because grief and shock can instantly deplete potassium reserves (the Moon is safety and potassium) and hence magnesium (the Sun), and B6. Star of Bethlehem is the Bach Flower (Uranus) remedy for shock. Aconite or Aconitum Napellus is the homeopathic remedy (Uranus, 12th house, Mars) remedy for shock. Mars because grief and shock render one weak and without energy. Ignatia Amara for Moon-Uranus- Mercury situations is for grief. Moon because of hypersensitivity, Uranus because of nerves and astral collapse and Mercury because one cannot think straight when shocked or in grief. The Australian Bush Flower constitutional remedies (Pluto) for grief are Waratah and Sturt Desert Pea.

However, I will discuss flower remedies and shamanic therapy for shock and grief in my next articles. I am not a homeopath, but have certification in flower remedies, plus 30 years of experience in and a university Master’s Degree in counselling and I have advanced certification as a practitioner in Aura Soma. I have advanced certification in Doreen Virtue Angel Intuitive healing, Theta Healing, Germanic/Viking Shamanic Healing, Core Shamanic healing, Four Winds Shamanic Soul Retrieval, Spirit Well Being Dreamtime Shamanic Healing, Intuitive Energy Healing and Chironic healing.

The AURA-SOMA® Orange Pomander is a URANUS remedy.

It is a
•Shock Absorber of the Past and Present: helps us to deal with spiritual shocks and fears. The orange pomander balances the aura when we feel “beside ourselves” which means either our aura is leaking or is totally ungrounded. This pomander protects against all shock, and helps to close the etheric gap after shock.
•CAN BE USED BEFORE PAST LIFE REGRESSIONS OR HEALINGS: It is through the etheric body to which the orange relates that past and future experiences may be accessed. Using the Orange Pomander allows the informational content of past experience to be accessed, without bringing the emotionally cathartic aspects into the present. This opens the door to insight. The orange pomander helps to clear the memory of deep shocks. Thus it is useful for past life therapy and is said to protect the therapist and client in this process.
•A regulator for temperature. Thus it is good for menopausal hot flushes; and helps regulate hormonal balance.
•A help for the Gut. The orange pomander helps letting go in this area and helps overcome deep fears, and is soothing and calming. The orange pomander helps let go and accept all that is going on around us. The orange pomander is a safety net on the journey into the depths of our Being.
•For dependency and co-dependency- aids releasing these, and addictions.
•For optimism and sense of humour.
•THE ORANGE POMANDER IS FOR liquid engineering. The orange pomander supports the devas that maintain mechanical devices and Archangel Metatron.
The ORANGE POMANDER IS FOR THE Physical Level: Circulatory, Lymphatic & Uro-Genital Systems, kidneys, bladder, (bedwetting), and our skin

THE MAJOR CHAKRA FOR THE ORANGE POMANDER IS the Splenic , Sacral or Hara Chakra and it has a soothing and calming effect on this area.

Chakra base (Small)

Fragrance: Fruity, spicy, fresh
Predominate Plants: Cinnamon, Mandarin

THE PREDOMANINANT CRYSTALS USED IN THE ORANGE POMANDER ARE the Orange Calcite, Sunstone, Amber, Orange Topaz, Jasper, Carnelian, and Tiger Eye

The APPLICATION: Use daily to cleanse, strengthen and support the aura.
Place three drops on the left palm, and gently rub the hands together. Give the energies of colour, herbs and crystal out to the world, flowing from the left hand around the Earth and back into the right hand. Then bring the hands gently over the crown chakra, passing the energies over the top of the head, then over the back of the head, through the occipital area where the psychic gate is said to be, cleansing that which is behind us. Bring the hands down over the brow, through the area of third eye, down to the throat. Moving the hands over the throat briefly, clearing the communications before gently coming to the heart where we rest for a moment. In this space you may perhaps wish to put your attention on people you hold precious or on a situation that you feel needs care. In your own time, when you are ready, bring the hands down moving the energies through the Solar Plexus, through the Root Chakra at the base of the spine, and down to Mother Earth. Ask that the Earth may receive what it is that we have to offer. Then moving back up the front, bring the palms together in a gesture of completion and take three deep breaths of the Pomander’s aroma-receive its essence into your own temple, your body.
NOTE: Do not pass the Pomander through the electro-magnetic field (for instance, around a mobile phone, near the electrical circuits of your car or near a microwave oven or computer) before inhaling as this allows the alcohol to evaporate before you breathe in. Do not apply to broken, irritated or sensitive skin. Do not use on polished or painted surfaces. You can share the pomanders with whomever you wish, unlike the Aura Soma Balance bottles.

The Aura-Soma therapy is a natural healing method that uses of the vibrational powers of colour, crystals, and natural scents combined with light in order to balance and harmonize body, mind, and spirit. Aura-Soma and the Equilibrium bottles were created by Vicky Wall, a herbalist who had dedicated her life to spiritual research and the treatment of illnesses with plants.
Vicky Wall inherited her father’s ”second sight” in that she could see the aura that surrounds all human beings. Vicky’s father was of the Hassidim Hebraic group and a scholar of the mystical aspects of the Bible. He was a Master of Kabbalah and Zohar, traditions from which he inherited knowledge of the medicinal and therapeutic uses of herbs and other plants.
In the early 1980s, Vicky became completely blind. After this, she began to ”feel” a voice inside her, inviting her to create these magical bottles, which divide the watery from the oily essence of various plants. Vicky stated that ”antique memories” came back into life as the colours of the bottles took shape in her mind.

Aura Soma therapy is totally connected to the concept of colour, which has therapeutic uses going back to ancient times. Every colour is a wavelength of light whose specific energetic quality can influence the whole range of human emotions through the chakras. Today, we all recognize that the chakras, which are spirals of energy that rotate in our etheric body, are in essence made of a number of colours, but that one colour dominates in each chakra.

Aura-Soma means “etheric body-physical body.” The etheric body, or aura, is an electromagnetic field that clairvoyants see as colored rays emanating from the spine.
As we know, colours are simply wavelengths of light. But we also know that we are actually made of light ourselves. As such, our own true vibration is mirrored in various frequencies of colour. When we choose colours from among the Equilibrium bottles, we do so because those particular colours ”speak” to us, and we are seeking to understand what it is they want to tell us.
By using the bringing colours we have chosen from the Equilibrium bottles into our etheric body, we balance the aura and to the even-more-refined bodies that make up the totality of our Light-bodies. So the Equilibrium colours are simply bringing us into the light of our own ”true colours.”
In holistic healing, imbalances in our physical and mental body are caused by the way we respond to emotions, with thoughts, decisions, and agreements with other beings and oaths that have altered our deepest essence or Soul and Spirit. When we use colours through the Equilibrium bottles, we synchronize their wavelengths to the ones of the body’s electromagnetic field, harmonizing these imbalances.
The client who seeks healing who chooses their own coloured bottles or pomanders. When we can stop the chattering of the conscious mind and go into the inner silence of the alpha brain wave, this inner healer, our Higher Self, knows the right thing for us, and chooses what we need.

My thesis and summary from this article is that Aura Soma colour therapy can be used as a good supporting therapy for those people with strong Libra or Venus as well as Pisces and or Neptune in conjunction with a watery or Lunar chart, as Aura Soma pomanders and bottles use a mixture of spiritually derived natural scents, crystals, herbs, plants, colours, oils and water to give relief to a person (client.) One can use this therapy in conjunction with massage, yoga, tai chi or chi gong, counselling, flower remedies or homeopathic remedies, sleep, loved one’s support, nutrition, knowledge of the effects of grief and shock and astrological counselling.
I do hope this has helped in some small way as the area of grief and shock therapies is large.
My very best wishes to you and may your life be a gentle ribbon of moonlight and happy days full of good fortune.
Hilary .
